A Letter to Future Me – Part 1

31st August, 2016

Dear Future Me,

I just saw a dog jump over a fence. I’m lying down on my bed now,  covering myself with my (our) skater blanket. Do you remember it?

I know that this is no way to start a letter, but I’m sure that you don’t mind.  I would ask you how you are, but I know that there’s probably so much going on with you ( there’s always so much going on with us) and that your reply would most likely be as long (maybe even longer) as this letter. Not that I mind. In fact, I would love it if you could write everything you want to tell me and send it to the Future you. Actually, she’s future us.

But for now, there’s so much I want to ask you.

How is Mama? How are our sistersDo you still dance? Have you finally gotten your middle splits?  Do you still love watching Spanish telenovelas and soap operas? Do you still like running?

Still have hopes to make it to the Olympics one day? Do you have any new best friends or are you still stuck with those fishes ( Angel & Prosper & T) that you hate to love so much?

How’s school now? You’re probably in University now. Hey, talking about universities, which university did you go to after all?And what course did you finally choose to study ? There were so many options .

Do you still write and blog? Made any new friends now? Do  we still love spoken word poetry? Do you have any new hobbies that you really like? Any new community ( school or church) that you love being part of?

And most importantly, how’s your relationship with God? Right now, it’s a bit rocky, but I’m trying. I hope it’s better than it is now ( ‘now’s actually is past for you). Don’t forget to pray about everything. Every single thing.

I’m going to end this letter now, but don’t worry, I’ll write many more letters. We’ll write many more.

So just for now, till my next letter arrives, take care of you. Don’t forget how beautiful, talented and capable you are.

I love you.

Your past self,

Ima ❤

So this is the first part of my ‘note to self ‘ series. I would certainly love some feedback from you, so feel free to leave a comment below. Thanks a lot for reading.

With love,

  1. I love writing notes to myself. I have been doing it for the past two years.
I wrote one in the new year and willed my self not to open it till the next year.
It was an amazing experience that showed me how just one year can change our feelings, ideas and ways of thinking. I even found an amazing website that lets you write out a letter to yourself, which is then mailed to you on the date that you want it to reach you. I have one letter that I am eagerly waiting to recieve on my 20th birthday. It’s so exciting. 😃
